Perhaps this could be due to the fact that the Silent Hill universe has become ordinary with age, or that the psychological horror genre, which Silent Hill helped create, has a significantly larger selection of titles these days. The more recent additions to the Silent Hill series have been unmistakably tame by comparison (roughly four games, by my count). (We do have female readers, right?) Either way, my point is that Konami seems to have forgotten how to make a psychological horror title. Obviously, I'm risking my manly reputation by admitting this, but I'm confident that many female readers will be instantly attracted to my emotional sensitivity. Critics remarked on its departure from the perceived trappings of the Silent Hill franchise, and were divided on its place within the series: some wrote that it succeeded as an enjoyable dungeon crawler, while others criticized it as neither a faithful Silent Hill title nor a good dungeon crawler.Before I start this review, there's something that I need to confess: There were several scenes in the first few Silent Hill titles that genuinely terrified me. Upon release, Book of Memories received mixed reviews. Daniel Licht returned to score its soundtrack Rob King and voice actor Troy Baker contributed a track, which featured vocals by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn and Baker's background vocals.
The narrative concept of Book of Memories was inspired by the fictional Book of Lost Memories in Silent Hill game lore, with the Book of Memories conceptualized as the literal story of a person's life.
Konami intended for the game's content to be oriented towards short multiplayer sessions on a handheld console, which was a departure from the single-player gameplay of previous Silent Hill titles. Book of Memories entered development in summer 2010.
